A stunning collection of 48 swords from the collection of William Koch, one of the world’s most renowned collectors, accounted for $1.2M of the $2.7M sales total (both figures include a 17.5% buyer’s premium) during back-to-back Premier Auctions at Cowan’s Auctions. The magnificent collection featured a stunning array of ornate British and American ceremonial and presentation swords ranging from the Napoleonic Wars, the Mexican-American War, and the Civil War.
“It was one of the truly great honors of my career to bring this unrivaled collection to market,” said Wes Cowan, Executive Chairman and Principal Auctioneer of the eponymous company he founded 24 years ago. “Bill Koch has been a friend of Cowan’s for nearly 15 years and during that time we have been able to witness firsthand the passion and discerning eye for the extraordinary that has made his collections the stuff of legends. We’re overjoyed that he trusted us to share his passion with the world.”
