** Yugoslavian Mauser Model 1948 Rifle (98K)

7.92x57mm Mauser. 23.62" barrel length. SN: N4495. Ex-German Mauser 98K bolt action rifle with tangent and hooded blade sights. Blued metal finish and plain semi pistol grip walnut stock. Features an internal 5-shot box magazine and stock lugs. Markings include what appears to be a Yugoslavian crest to receiver ring, with two "{Eagle}/135" marks and a partially obliterated "6780". Receiver, bolt, floorplate, and stock all have matching serial number. Cut-off is marked "{Eagle}/77" followed by a "97". Buttplate is marked with a Cyrillic letter. There are partially obfuscated importer marks under barrel toward muzzle. Buttstock has a triangle shaped cartouche above serial number stock markings. This item appears to be an Ex-German Mauser 98K that was captured and adopted into the Yugoslavian arsenal following the war. The stock appears to be new or refinished. The barrel also has some weak marks, indicating that this may have been arsenal refinished.

Condition:

Good to very good. Bore is bright. Finish is good, with some light thinning and scratching overall. Wood stock appears to be somewhat new or refinished. Buttplate and muzzle have some pitting and losses.
