Winchester Model 1892

Unknown caliber. 28" barrel length. SN: 21969. Mfg. 1892 Lever-action rifle with tube fed magazine, adjustable rear sight, side extractor, and forearm cap. Rich patina to octagon barrel and receiver, with plain walnut straight-grip stock and forearm. Crescent shaped butt with steel buttplate. Upper tang is marked Model 1892/WINCHESTER/PAT OCT 14 1884. Crudely marked F.G.L./P.M. NEFF to wood stock under butt plate. Standard two-line manufacturer address to top of barrel, with serial number marked to bottom of frame. This Model 1892 has a serial number under 168,000 which means it is an antique and was manufactured sometime between 1892-1898. As mentioned, this specimen has an unusual 28" tapered octagon barrel, a shorter tube magazine, and an unknown caliber that is measured at about .348 or .35. Forearm cap also appears to be larger than normal.

Good. Patina to most of metal finish. Bore is frosty, rifling is present, and action is still very good. There are two 2" cracks to left of wood grip, and two small cracks to wood on right of upper tang. Losses to wood around upper and lower tang. The forearm appears to have several hairline cracks to underside, with one extending the entire length of forearm. Missing front sight. Metal surfaces exhibit minor pitting, denting, and scratches overall.
