Winchester Model 1873 Rifle (Third Model)

.44-40 caliber. 24" round barrel length. SN: 215673B. Lever-action rifle with tube-fed magazine and iron frame. Features correct dustplate for receiver, and adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight and fixed blade front sight. Blued metal finish and case hardened frame, parts. Has a plain straight grip oiled walnut stock. Design features a steel forend cap and metal buttplate, with brass loading port and exposed spur hammer. Markings include serial number to upper tang, with caliber markings to barrel and floorplate. Also present is the two-line New-Haven manufacturer address and patent dates to barrel. Manufactured sometime in 1885.

Condition:

Fair to good. Bore is somewhat dark with moderate oxidation to rifling. Original barrel finish has developed into a mottled grey-brown patina. Case hardening to frame and small parts has diminished and mostly turned to a grey patina.
