Winchester 3rd Model 1873 Saddle Ring Carbine

.44-40, 20" barrel, S/N 312307B (mfg. ca1889). Blued finish, smooth straight-grip walnut stock with carbine butt, smooth forend retained by single barrel band. Standard Winchester markings, 1873 marked ladder rear sight, barrel mounted post and blade front sight, saddle ring. 3-piece cleaning rod in butt trap. Includes a Winchester factory letter.

Very good. Retains strong traces of blue in protected areas of barrel and magazine tube as well as on frame, blending with a mostly mottled plum patina with some moderate oxidation. Clear markings, mechanically functional, good bore is moderately oxidized with some pitting and frosting. Wood with wear, showing scattered bumps, dings and mars.
