Riley;" and also "I still have the idea of a small store and Post Office but we must have farm and fields all done first." Mentions "news of Gold from Pike's Peak."
After his first retirement from military service in 1853 Sherman went to San Francisco and worked in banking until the Panic of 1857 when he moved to Leavenworth, Kansas to try his hand at Law.
Condition:
Written entirely in Sherman's neat but at times hard to decipher hand. "T" in autograph has slight foxing/smudge.
