(Harrington, Charles E. - text) Collier, John (photographer). SUMMERING IN COLORADO. Denver: Richards & Co., Publishers, 1874. 7 3/4 by 5 1/4 inches in the original rust colored cloth with gilt titling to the upper cover. An important early Colorado publication published to promote tourism and settlement - this example with 15 original sepia-toned albumen photographs (including the portrait frontis bound in). The work is often described containing fewer photographs.
Complete in 158 pages plus four pages of ads at the rear. The frontis portrait and title page have separated but are present. The original photographs were pasted onto a heavier cardstock and a couple have separated from the binding. The tone of the photos is generally quite strong. There is wear to the corners, edges and head and tail of spine - otherwise VG.
