A few of the businesses indicated on the accounts are Viertir(?) Mine, Gold Ridge Mine, "Adler's Store," and Pacific Brewing Company. A few other people have positions noted, such as Janitor or Butcher, but not the company.
The second has pre-printed pages for court functions in the State of Texas relating to witness accounts, including travel and other expenses related to testifying in various cases. This volume has dates from September 1889 to September 1896. It is 11 x 16 in., 3/4 leather, although most of the other covering of the boards is missing; 4 spine bands; 292 numbered pages, plus index. The last four pages and a few scattered throughout the volume are blank, most are at least partially filled out. Among the crimes for which witnesses were brought in were: horse theft, cattle theft, embezzlement, assault to murder and murder, plus a few burglaries and others. One of the horse thieves is a woman (Alisha Pursley).
