signed lower left "Horatio Bowerman, July 26, 1879". Vivid action dominates this work, which is of course, a copy of an earlier oil painting. With men standing on the damaged vessel still firing handguns, masts and sails floating about, with Perry and other crew members rowing for the "Niagara," dodging cannon balls in the water. Framed and matted, 18 x 22.5" visible.

Condition:Scattered foxing, but colors still bright. Lower left corner torn. Not removed from frame for examination.
