9mm Parabellum. 4.9" barrel length. SN: 5967e. Blued metal finish to slide and frame, with grooved brown Bakelite grips. Has fixed sights and a removable 9-shot magazine marked P.38. Features Matching serial numbers, Eagle/359 markings to both sides, and German Eagle stamped to right side of slide. Marked P.38 5967e ac44 on left side of slide, and 5967e to left of frame. This model P.38 was produced by Walther sometime in 1944, as is noted by the manufacturer code. The (e) in the serial number, indicates that it was a model made using Walther's experimental bluing process. The new bluing method was used to speed up P.38 production towards the end of WWII, but as a result caused blued finishes to turn a purple/red hue over time.
Provenance:From the Collection of Charlie Hinton
Very good. Some losses to finish near muzzle, and front of slide. Bluing on barrel and frame has turned to a purple/red hue. There are light scratches to Bakelite grips, and a bite to the thumb rest on left side grip.
