US Model 1884 Trapdoor Springfield Rifle

.45-70, 32.625" barrel secured by two solid barrel bands retained by bandsprings, S/N 444314. Blued finish, color casehardened breech, smooth straight-gripped walnut stock. Low arch breech, two-piece triggerguard, grooved trigger, 3-click tumbler, solid buttplate without trap. Stock with clear SWP/1889 cartouche on counterpane and a crisp {Circle-P} firing proof behind triggerguard, Buffington rear sight, pinned blade front sight. Missing cleaning rod.


Good. Metal with a thick, heavily oxidized patina with some moderate roughness. Markings remains clear and legible in both metal and wood. Mechanically functional, fair bore is very dirty, heavily oxidized and moderately pitted. Stock un-sanded but showing a moderate number of scattered bumps, dings and mars with some mildew present. A nice, untouched attic condition rifle.
