US Model 1850 Staff & Field Officers Sword
33" single-edged, slightly curved spear point blade, 38.5" overall length. Cast brass guard with "US" in face, shagreen covered grooved wood grip with 12 wraps of twisted brass wire. Blade etching weak, reverse of blade somewhat crudely engraved "EXCALIBAR" over the remnants of the etching.
Condition:
Good. Blade cleaned with weak etching and scattered oxidation and discoloration on its surface. Grip with some wear, hilt with a rich, uncleaned patina. Hole drilled in top of pommel cap, blade peen is distorted and shows impact marks.
