US Model 1842 Percussion Pistol by Aston

.54 caliber, 8.5" barrel, no S/N. Bright finish, brass furniture, walnut stock. Single shot percussion pistol. Standard Aston lock markings, dated 1847 at the tail with weak matching 1847 date on tang. Breech with US / JH / P inspection and with a clear WAT cartouche on the counterpane. Good. Metal cleaned in the past and now with a dull brown, evenly oxidized patina and some scattered pinpricking. Most markings clear, with the barrel date and "US" at the breech weak, but legible.
