UCV 11th Reunion Nathan Bedford Forrest Badge, Memphis 1901

Rare celluloid scroll-style United Confederate Veterans reunion badge, approx. 2" x 3 in. Color portrait of General Nathan Bedford Forrest (1821-1877) inside a laurel wreath above three different flying Confederate flags. The text states "U.C.V. 11th Reunion" at top and "Memphis May, 1901" at bottom. During the Civil War, Forrest was renowned cavalry tactician who earned the nickname "The Wizard of the Saddle." The wizardry theme continued post-war, when he became involved in the Ku Klux Klan: he was elected as their first Grand Wizard in 1867.

Light spotting, with some cracks/tears at curved ends of scroll.
