** U.S. Springfield Model 1903 Rifle with 1905 Modification

.30-06 caliber, 24" barrel, S/N 205349 (ca 1906). Blued finish with high top handguard and one-bolt stock with grasping groove.  Correct Springfield marked upper handguard and stock.  Blade front sight with 2700-yard rear sight.  Barrel marked with Springfield arsenal marking, flaming bomb, and 1905 date. Stock marked on left side with "C.C.V." cartouche.  Right side of buttstock marked "6CO/CAC/MVM/35".

Fair.  Moderate wear to blued finish leaving behind a mixed blue and gunmetal coloration with some scattered storage rust and grime.  Some additional discoloration on magazine floorplate.  Stock shows blemishes consistent with age and use but no serious cracks or splits.  Bore is good; some brightness with old storage grime and visible but worn rifling.  Could clean to better.  A good opportunity to own an uncommon variation of this venerable American service rifle.
