U.S. Springfield Model 1873

.45-70 GOVT. 32.625" barrel length. SN: 96232. Single shot breech loading action with fixed notch and blade sights. Features double barrel bands, sling swivels, and a metal buttplate. Blued metal finish with a plain straight grip walnut stock. Markings include "MODEL/1873" to trapdoor breech, and "U.S./SPRINGFIELD" preceded by a crested American eagle to sideplate. There is a faint {stylized "P} cartouche to bottom of buttstock behind trigger guard. Item is without cleaning rod. 


Fair. Bore is dark and has some cobwebs. Item has lost most of original finish and is replaced by a deep grey-brown patina. There is pitting to metal surfaces overall, with the occasional oxidation and dust accumulation to creased areas. Wood stock has scratches, losses, and bites overall.
