.50-70 caliber, 32.5"barrel, no S/N. Bright finish with military stock fitted with two spring-retained barrel bands. Blade front sight with folding leaf rear sight. Screw-mounted trap door marked "1866/EAGLE." Counterpane shows script "FWS" cartouche of Frederick W. Sanderson, "ESA" of Erskine Allen, and possibly "HSH" of Henry Hill. Small block "A.B.C." stamp rear of triggerguard. Missing ramrod.
Fair. Barrel has a mixed plumb and gunmetal patination with scattered areas of oxidation and pitting. Stock has numerous handling marks gouges, and imperfections throughout. Mechanically functional. Bore is fair; mostly dark with some old pitting and fouling along with what appears to be a ring of cratering approximately halfway through barrel. Visible rifling.
