.45-70 caliber, 32.5" barrel, S/N 408300 (ca. 1888). Blued finish with military stock secured by two barrel bands. Blade front sight with Buffington pattern rear sight. Trapdoor marked "U.S./MODEL/1884." Flat lockplate with three-click tumbler.
Fair. Most of the blued finish has worn away with an overall mottled plum and gunmetal patination to metal parts. Stock has numerous blemishes from age and use with a very stable crack rear of lockplate. Bore is mostly dark with some scattered fouling and worn rifling.
