U.S. Model 1873 Trapdoor Springfield Carbine

.45-70 caliber, 22" barrel, S/N 156524 (ca 1881), Blued finish with military stock.  Blade front sight with correct "C" marked rear sight.  Three-click tumbler. Barrel marked "V/P/{EAGLE}" proofs with counterpane showing "SWP/1881" cartouche of Samuel Porter. Lockplate marked with "U.S./SPRINGFIELD" with American eagle.  

Condition:

Fair to good. Barrel has a silver gray coloration with some scratches and dents near breech. Dark patination to lockplate, trap door, and hammer. Stock has some minor handling marks with a sliver of missing wood under lockplate, but is in otherwise very good condition. Bore is poor; mostly dark with some old fouling with barely visible rifling.
