** U.S. and CEF-Marked 1905 Mk. II Ross Rifle

.303 caliber, 28" barrel, S/N 85064.  Blued finish with military stock.  Blade front sight with flip-aperture rear sight.  Barrel marked with British proofs.  Stock alongside barrel marked with Canadian acceptance marking.  Receiver marked "LC".  Left side of receiver marked with Quebec manufacturing mark.  Grip marked with bursting bomb, U.S. marking, and "7361" number.  Right side of buttstock marked with stockmaker's cartouche, 1908 production date, serial number, and "42/B/CEF/343" possibly denoting issue to the 42nd Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force; The Royal Highlanders of Canada.  Missing stacking swivel.

Fair to good. Most of the original blued finish has aged to a deep plum patina with some bluing left in protected areas. Bolt retains visible case coloring. Stock shows marks and blemishes consistent with age and use but is otherwise free of major cracks and splits. Bore is fair to good; moderately dark with visible rifling. Could clean to better.
