U.S. 1795 Socket Bayonet circa 1808-1812
14.5" flat faced blade with rudimentary 7.25" face flute. 3.37" socket with .875" muzzle diameter cut with a 3-step "inverted Z" shaped mortise for a top stud. Crude bridge at rear of socket, flat shank face. A nice War of 1812-era U.S. socket bayonet.
Condition:
Very good. Metal with a dull pewter patina, some scattered oxidation and discoloration and a few patches of light pitting.
