Two U.S. Civil War-era Socket Bayonets

1) U.S. Socket Bayonet for Drake and Lindner Alteration Mississippi Rifles. 20" blade with 18.75" fuller, 3" socket with standard 3-step mortise, locking ring and .87" muzzle diameter. 22.75" overall length. Unmarked. Squared shank shoulder as found on the bayonets made on Greenwood & Batley machinery from England, commonly encounter on Bay State Tool Company produced socket bayonets for the Drake and Lindner alterations as well as 1st Pattern Spencer Rifles. While the Confederate Fayetteville arsenal received machinery from Greenwood and Bately as well and the Fayetteville socket bayonets were of this style, this is not a Fayetteville bayonet as the locking ring stop and locking ring tension screw are not consistent with Fayetteville made bayonets. - About good overall with some impact marks on the muzzle face and some scattered oxidation, locking ring functional.

2) US Model 1835 Replacement Bayonet. 18" blade with 17" fuller, 2.625" socket with with standard 3-step mortise, locking ring and .835" muzzle diameter. 21" overall length. Face of blade marked "US". - About good with scattered oxidation and discoloration. U.S. weak, locking ring functional.
