Two Tintypes of Federal Cavalrymen

Lot of 2.

Sixth plate tintype housed in hanging case, featuring two federal cavalrymen seated side by side with their hands folded. Both men wear mounted services jackets with hardee style dress hats from 1858 adorned with unit insignia denoting Company C, 2nd Cavalry regiment. One man appears to have shoulder scales, while the second has mounting hardware only. The slight color variations between the two jackets is likely attributed to differing uniform contractors.

Quarter plate tintype featuring a federal cavalryman wearing Sergeant stripes, with NCO stripe on trouser, and a private purchase hat with patch, 2nd Regiment, Company K. Image appears to be labeled "S> Whitney" on inside.
