Lot of 2 sixth plate tintypes, featuring the same Civil War soldier, who displays his sword in the first image and pours a drink in the second. He wears a forage cap with branch, company, and regimental designations suggesting that he was a cavalryman, along with a mounted services coat and a pinkie ring on his right hand. In the tintype with sword, he is pictured wearing his saber belt and holding the saber across his body in his right hand. A prominent scar is visible in both images on his left cheek. Both housed in full pressed paper cases.
Provenance:Charles A. and Frances Swedlund Collection of Early Photography
Condition:
Hinges of both cases in tact. Scratching and spotting visible in sword tintype.
