Two Post-Civil War Confederate Flags, Incl. Silk Second National Flag

Lot of 2 flags, both believed to have been made after the war, possibly for a Confederate Veterans Reunion, including silk Confederate Second National Flag; 

Battle flag of the Army of Northern Virginia.

Silk Second National Flag is hand-sewn, approx. 28.25 x 43.75 in. (overall). Constructed of silk except for the hoist, which is polished cotton. Accompanied by report from Textile Preservation Associates, Inc., April 15, 1998, indicating that this flag is post-war, as it uses materials and techniques not seen in any war-dated Confederate flag. It may have been made for a UCV unit or similar purpose.

The "Southern Cross" flag is 67 x 110 in. Body of flag is cotton with wool hoist, two hand-hemmed  holes for mounting, machine sewn. Battle Flag of the Army of Northern Virginia, although most of these were square rather than rectangular. The CSA Naval jacks were very similar and generally rectangular. This flag has numerous holes and tears.
