Lot of 2. Oval albumen print, 5.25 x 7.375 in., mounted to 8 x 10 in., of Lieutenant Joseph H. Ross standing in uniform with a sword at his side. Credited to Purviance, Pittsburgh, PA. Ross enlisted on June 19, 1861 as a 1st sergeant. He was mustered into Company I, 7th Ohio Infantry but was transferred and promoted to 2nd lieutenant of Company C on March 1, 1862. Shortly thereafter, Ross was killed in action at Cedar Mountain, VA, on August 9, 1862. Pencil inscriptions on verso provide basic biographical details. Accompanied by CDV bearing the same photograph.
