Two Confederate Images, Incl. Sixth Plate Ambrotype of Pvt. Charles Peebles, 41st Virginia Infantry, and Tintype of Pvt. A.D. Carroll, 3rd Mississippi Cavalry

Lot of 2, including:

Sixth plate ambrotype possibly depicting Private Charles Peebles, 41st Virginia Infantry, housed in a half pressed paper case. He wears a double-breasted coat and sports a full, dark beard. On August 6, 1861, Peebles enlisted at Petersburg, VA and mustered into Co. E, 41st Virginia Infantry. The regiment fought as part of Mahone's Brigade in twenty-two major Civil War engagements, including Malvern Hill, Second Manassas, Sharpsburg, Chancellorsville, the Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Petersburg, Sailor's Creek, and Appomattox. 

Tintype mounted as a CDV of man clad in a coat and vest, with studio backmark of Mansfield's City Gallery, Saint Louis, MO.  Verso inscription identifies subject as A.D. Carroll, who served as a private in the 3rd Mississippi Cavalry.
