Lot of 2 CDVs featuring accomplished Ohio politician Robert Patterson Kennedy (1840-1918). Both bust-length portraits show a bearded Kennedy in uniform and are credited on verso to Ewing & Co., Cumberland, MD.
Kennedy, of Bellefontaine, OH, enlisted on June 1, 1816 as a 2nd lieutenant and was commissioned into Company F of the Ohio 23rd Infantry. Promoted many times throughout his military service, Kennedy ultimately resigned in April of 1865 for reappointment to colonel of the 196th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. After the war, he returned to Ohio and became a lawyer. He held several political offices, including Lieutenant Governor of Ohio (1885-1887), Republican congressman, and President of William McKinley's Insular Commission.
