Two CDVs of General John Buford by Brady

Lot of 2 cdvs, both with E & H.T. Anthony backmarks. This tragic ex-dragoon commanded the reserve brigade, Army of the Potomac Cavalry for most of his short career. Promoted brigadier in July 1862 Buford was terribly wounded at 2nd Bull Run and reported dead. At Gettysburg Buford commanded the division that confronted A.P. Hill's Corps on the Cashtown Road buying time for the 1st Corps to come up. Buford contracted typhoid during the later Rappahannock campaign and died in December 1863 with his major general's commission in hand.

Condition:Light, scattered staining; even toning to cdvs.
