.45-70 caliber, 31" barrel, S/N 485972 (ca. 1890). Blued finish with military stock. Blade front sight with rifle marked Buffington pattern rear sight. Barrel marked with V/P/Eagle/P proofs, trapdoor marked with model, breech marked with serial number. Includes U.S. Model 1873 bayonet with scabbard.
Good. Some thinning of finish on barrel, with areas taking on a dark pewter coloration. Stock appears refinished along with dents and blemishes consistent with age and use but is free of cracks, splits, and other serious damage. Bore is good, mostly dark but is free of major pitting. Visible edges to rifling. Bayonet scabbard missing frog.
