Lock marked U.S. / SPRINGFIELD and with {spread-winged eagle}. Breech block marked U.S. / MODEL / 1884. Barrel with V / P / {eagle head} proofs, as well as an additional P and A inspection mark. Clear SWP / 1886 cartouche at wrist, {Circle}-P proof behind triggerguard. "C" marked 1884 Buffington rear sight, front sight with removable hood. Sling bar and ring opposite lock. Low arch breech, 3-click tumbler, grooved trigger. Single barrel band without stacking swivel or sight protector bump. Butt trap with three-piece cleaning rods.
Condition:
Fine. Retains some strong traces of thinning blue on the barrel, mixed with a plum brown patina, showing scattered light surface oxidation and some freckled areas of surface roughness. Breech block with most of the vivid case color present. All markings clear and crisp. Mechanically functional, very good bore. Stock crisp with some scattered bumps, dings, mars, scuffs and minor wear marks as well as a minute chip forward of the lock.
