.30-06 caliber, serial number 3882787. Bolt is marked 6528287-SA. The barrel is marked D6535448-45 A179D S A 11 52. The receiver is marked D 28291 35. It is also marked on the flat surface just to the rear of the rear sight SA-52. The OP rod is straight cut, flat-sided and has the 5/16" relief cut modification. It is marked D35382 SA. The trigger housing is marked D28290-12-SA. The triggerguard is forged, milled and is unmarked. The gas cylinder is unmarked and has the wide front sight base. The front sight seal is missing. The stock is cartouched SA over a JLG in a box with a small ordnance wheel to the rear. There is a serifed P in a circle on the forward side of the pistol grip. The stock has the short grooved hard channel.

This is a late WWII production rifle that was upgraded in 1952. This rifle is an example of the 1950 overhaul effort at Springfield and only those that went through this particular overhaul bear this mark on the flat surface to the rear of the rear sight. As such, it is a desirable specimen in the progression of these rifles.

Condition:The wood is dark with a number of dents and dings. There is a small piece missing on the side of the buttstock where the OP rod would rest in the forward position. All metal is in good condition and shows signs of light wear.
