Spencer Model 1865 Carbine By Burnside Rifle Company
.50RF Government. 20" barrel with three groove rifling secured by a single barrel band. SN: 28390. Blued and color casehardened finish, iron furniture, smooth walnut stock and forend. Standard Burnside Rifle Company markings and Model/1865 on top of receiver. Two script cartouches at reverse wrist that are partially legible. Equipped with Stabler cut-off. Retains correct 1865 pattern folding ladder rear sight and original front sight. Sling bar cut off of mounting plate and no longer present. Retains correct magazine follower tube that is missing the spring and follower.
Condition:
Good. Metal cleaned to bright with no finish on the exterior but some case colors on the interior of the breech block. Markings still legible in metal, weak in wood. Mechanically functional, fair bore is dark, dirty and moderately pitted. Stock with scattered bumps, dings mars and some scattered scuffs and chips.
