South Carolina Militia Marked Peabody Patent Carbine

.50-70 GOVT. 20” barrel length. SN: NSN. Blued metal finish. Two piece walnut stock has a plain straight grip and forearm with single barrel band. Falling block action rifle with folding leaf notch rear sights and blade front sight. Item features a saddle ring to left of frame. Markings include an 8 stamped to top of wrist and a pitted SC marked to heel of buttplate.

Condition:

Fair to good. Bore is frosty and shows heavy pit marks to rifling. Finish has darkened with patina and shows some scattered clusters of pitting and scratches. Wood stock also shows scratches and mars. Action is functional.
