Slavery Documents from Puerto Rico and Cuba

ANS, 5.25 x 8.5 in. Havana [sic], 21 April 1812. "Recd. of Dr. Wm. Frost Eighty five Dollars in full of all demands for boarding sick negroes & Room hire, & burying the dead &c. as per act. - Also Fifty Seven Dollars & half in full for a Lame Negroe it being my half in the share, which is in fill of all demands to this date." Signed Fras. Nicholls. On verso is an extensive account headed "Nichol's Bills" including bills for medicine and board.

From Puerto Rico - 10 forms "Registro de Esclavos." (slave registry), in Spanish. Partially printed forms (two slightly different). Nine are from the Department of Arecivo/Arecibo, one from Mayaguez, several different towns. There is an identification for each, typical of the time with stature, color, hair, eyes, nose, mouth, etc. 1868-1872.  Forms for Nieves, Isabel, Rafaela, Rodulfo, Martin, Zinefacia(?), Magdalena, Madea, Francipia Caballero and Cornelio.
