Contemporary paneled calf gilt, spine in 6 compartments with 5 raised bands, red morocco gilt title label in one, others gilt decorated, all edges dyed red (some scuffs, joints cracked, split to spine). 

FIRST EDITION of the eighteenth volume of the Historical Register notably including a detailed discussion of the Atlantic Slave Trade in the British American Colonies as well as the Royal African Company, and institution that shipped more enslaved Africans than any other. From 1662 to 1731, it was estimated that the Company transported over 200,000 enslaved people, of whom 44,000 died en route. RARE: OCLC locates only 5 copies. ESTC T154312.
