18mo (101 x 164 mm). Engraved half-title. Original dark green morocco gilt, spine in 5 compartments with 4 raised bands gilt,  all edges gilt (spine and hinges rubbed, light wear to edges). 

FIRST EDITION of a compilation of poems and narratives collected to illustrate the evils of slavery in commemoration of abolition in the British colonies in 1833. The book is oft attributed to Bonnie Barton, however, manuscript collections at the University of Manchester suggest Mary Anne Rawson (née Read) was the compiler and editor of the volume. RARE: OCLC locates 4 copies all in the United Kingdom, with internet records indicating only one copy sold at auction in the last 75 years.
