Sixth Plate Ambrotype of Early War Militiaman,

unidentified, most likely New York militia private wearing holdover frock coat with three rows of state buttons and recent issue taller blue kepi, circa 1861. The collar is trimmed top and bottom with a row of contrasting braid. The butt of a small pistol can been seen just above his left gauntlet.

Condition:Plate shows minor mat abrasions with good clarity, near EXC. Extreme lower left corner of plate is broken away, but covered by mat and retainer. Housed in a repaired composition case.
