Signed Kitana Attributed to Oei-era Bizen School

24" nagasa (blade length). 36.5" overall with tsuka and saya (handle and scabbard). Shinogi zukuri type blade attributed to the Oei-era, in WWII-era shin gunto mounts. Tsuka is wrapped with traditional same and ito, with brass cherry blossom furnishings to both saya and tsuka. Saya is green-brown painted wood. Item is signed to left side of tang. Included with item is paperwork from a Japanese sword consultant. Paperwork states: "This sword has very fine ji-hada and is a very good specimen of the Bizen School around the Oei-era (Muramachi period)." 


Blade is very good. High polish with few pit marks or scratches. Blade has two speck sized bites toward kissaki (point). Mount has some wiggle room. Mekugi (peg) has a crack.
