Sampler by Emma Eveleth, Dated 1823

American, 1823. A silk on linen ground sampler with four alphabets, numbers, an all-around arcaded strawberry vine border and inner single cross border, the verse When youthful seasons shall be over / And scenes of childhood charm no more / In riper years with joy I'll sing / As infant proof of industry, and signed Emma B. Eveleth Aged 11 years AD 1823, and a decorative small swag below the signature, framed; 21.25 x 15.75 in. (sight), 24 x 18.5 in. (frame).

Mounted on acid-free board with spacers in old if not original frame. Some losses to mahogany veneer on frame. Some small age holes in sampler.
