Russell Lee (American, 1903-1986), eight photographs taken for the Farm Security Administration, including four of prize cattle and four of Western homes and farm structures.
Each photograph is a 6.5 x 8 in. to 7 x 9.5 in. gelatin silver print mounted to a 9 x 11 in. cardstock binder page with an FSA stamp on verso, dated May 1940. Affixed typed captions describe the subjects, including noting the breed and butterfat output of the cows, and place them at and around Casa Grande Valley Farms, Pinal County, Arizona. The best shot shows three children playing outside of the community building housing the WPA Nursery School at FSA Agua Fria Migratory Farm Workers Camp.
