FIRST EDITION of Jamaican-American historian Rogers's theory that some of the United States presidents had Black ancestry. This work inspired Auset Bakhufu's treatise Six Black Presidents: Black Blood: White Masks, though neither work has gained wide consensus among historians. Noted scholar Henry Louis Gates writes in an article on Rogers of the work "would get the "Black History Wishful Thinking Prize," hands down, were there such in existence." (Gates, "J.A. Rogers' 100 Amazing Facts About the Negro," The Root).
