35" single edged blade with 28" and 18.25" fullers. Brass three-branch guard with brass wire-wrapped leather grip. Steel Scabbard. Right ricasso marked "U.S./1864/A.G.M." with left ricasso marked "C. Roby/CHELSMFORD/MASS". Additional sub-inspector marking on pommel. Includes original leather sword knot.
Condition:
Good to very good. Blade is mostly bright with some scattered, minor darkening. No chips or cracks in edge. Guard has a dull luster with some darkening and light tarnish. Grip has all of its brass wire with a visible seam but no loss of leather grip material. Scabbard has a gunmetal coloration with increased darkening to toe.
