17 1/2 x 22 3/4 in. poster (light creasing to upper right).
Robeson is pictured from an early visit to Detroit alongside an image with Robeson and Erma Henderson (1917-2009), the first African American woman elected to the Detroit City Council. First elected in 1972, she used her platform to lobby for equal rights especially targeting redlining. She was elected as the President of the Council in 1977 and served for 12 years in the role, named Michiganian of the Year in 1978 by The Detroit News. This poster was possibly published in early 1977 as a memorial to Robeson.
