.58 caliber, 33" barrel, no S/N. Browned finish with brass mounts and sanded stock. Replaced front sight with notch rear sight block. Barrel shows very faint "JH/P" markings along with "STEEL" marking. Lockplate marked "REMINGTONS/HERKIMER/N.Y." with "U.S./1853" vertically rear of hammer. Counterpane shows two illegible oval inspection markings. Includes spare cone in patchbox. Replaced ramrod.
Fair. Barrel has a mixed pewter and oxidized finish with some pitting around breech. Sanded stock shows some handling marks and imperfections with a section of missing wood rear of breech. Mechanically functional but does fire on half cock. Bore is poor; old fouling and grime present with no visible rifling.
