Remington Rolling Block New York State Contract Rifle
.50-70. 36" round barrel secured by three spring retained barrel bands. SN: NSN. Bright finish, color casehardened receiver and hammer, walnut stock and forend. Single shot breechloading metallic cartridge rifle. Standard three-line Remington address and patent information tang markings. Weak cartouches on reverse wrist. Equipped with the typical NY contract long spur hammer, long range military ladder rear sight, musket style combination front sight and socket bayonet lug and sling swivels on the upper barrel band and on the triggerguard bow. Missing buttplate.
Condition:
Good. Metal with a dull pewter patina and scattered surface oxidation, discoloration and some minor pitting. Mechanically functional, good bore with strong rifling that is moderately oxidized and with scattered light to moderate pitting. Wood about fair, sanded and with added finish, showing bumps, dings and mars. Missing buttplate.
