Reconverted Fullstock Flintlock Rifle with R. Ashmore Lock
About .58 caliber. 38" octagonal barrel length. SN: NSN. Fullstock flintlock rifle with fixed notch and blade sights. Browned metal finish with brass stock furnishings. Walnut English-style stock has a checkered straight grip and cheek rest molding to buttstock. Item features a lockplate signed "R. ASHMORE/WARRANTED" to center, and a regional-styled patchbox with basic unpierced finial motif. Lock has unbridled pan that was reconverted from percussion at some point. Includes wood ramrod and is with flint.
Condition:
Fair to good. Bore is dark with oxidation and residue. Finish has a mottled grey-brown patina overall. Wood stock has scattered losses and scratching. Bottom of stock in front of triggerguard has cracking that was repaired by joining the cracks with brass fill. There is also cracking around lockplate.
