Keo, AR, 15 March 1918. 3pp, 8 1/2 x 5 3/8 in. on Kirkland Drug Company letterhead (lightly creased at folds, pinholes to upper left corners). French complains of a property line dispute with an African American neighbor named Lydia Washing[ton] and accuses Pemberton of representing her. He writes: "I can inform you now that the whole town of Keo is against you in this move we do not propose to allow negroes to dominate our town..." -- Typed letter to Mr. O.E. French, unsigned. Little Rock, AR, 15 March 1918. One page, 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 in. on Walter G. Pemberton Attorney and Counsellor at Law letterhead (pinholes to upper left corner). Penciled inscription written over some text reading, in part, "Not Sent." Pemberton asserts that he is not employed by Lydia Washington and admonishes French for "going off half-cocked." -- and 2 others. Together, 4 letters.
