Albumen carte de visite of Edgar Allan Poe on mount with verso imprint of Black & Case, Boston, MA. A rare pose derived from one of two daguerreotypes originally taken by William Pratt in 1849, known as the "Thompson" Daguerreotype.

Condition:

Trimmed along bottom edge of mount. Uneven toning on mount verso. 2 cent internal revenue stamp on verso as well as penciled identification. Toning to image, with some light soiling.
