Rare Civil War-Era Card Game

Deck containing 125 cards, each approx. 2.875 x 4.75 in., and numbered "1" through "15," including five cards of each number. Each individual card recto features short text summaries of five Civil War events listed in random order, while verso is blank. Events listed include, "Jeff. Davis and Alexander Stevens inaugurated President and Vice-President of the Rebel States government, Feb. 18, 1861" (No. 1); "Battle of Crosskeys, Va., Union forces victors; June 8, 1862" (No. 5); "Execution of Robert W. Kennedy of the rebel service, by whose direction he endeavored to fire New York City, March 24, 1864" (No. 10); "$1.00 in gold worth $2.60 in greenbacks, November, 1864" (No. 15); and numerous others. 


All cards with surface soil, discoloration (especially at edges), and wear to edges and corners. Some with ink transfer.
